Fri 4/Jun: Albert Combrink
Guest Speaker and Presenter:
Albert Combrink is the pianist of the Cape Town Tango Ensemble which performed at all the major festivals in the country, and has recorded two CD's, "El Tango En Africa" and "Tango Club". asHe has also been involved in various TV, stage and film projects. During this short visit to Singapore he plans to work with local musicians to enrich the tango scene with live music. You can buy Albert's CDs after his talk ($25 each)
Local musicians joining him for the presentation are Dominic on guitar and Shzr Ee on accordion.

Guest Deejay:
Thomas Jabusch began his tango journey in 2002 with the tightly knit Ann Arbor Tango Club. His initial infatuation with tango turned into a serious love affair. Thomas continuously tries to expand his understanding of tango dance and its music, composers, and styles. Now residing in the San Francisco Bay Area and under the mentorship of Homer Ladas, he now DJs at the CELLspace milonga, a mixed traditional / alternative milonga where his debut was greeted with enthusiasm. Thomas is married to Singapore tanguera Lee Yee and they are on home leaves with their baby.

    Who's Abrazos?
    Abrazos ('embrace' in Spanish) is a studio
    created by the organisers of the non-profit TangoSingapore, promoting and teaching tango since 1999.
    No partner is required for most classes, but registration is required.
    Attire: Bring comfortable walking shoes. Ladies shoes should have a secure strap and heels.

    If you want to try out one class please come on Saturdays. You must confirm your attendence (SMS or email) before turning up : no lesson will be held if there are no registration. $25.

  • Group sessions include students of mixed levels. Each month,
        new students join a course on the start date.
  • Each level has a number of required topics to be completed.
        A satisfactory skill level should be demonstrated before
        progressing to the next level.
  • Each student improves at individual pace, so some will take
        longer to advance a level. Practise is key to progress.
